Wild Wings Safaris was founded in 2005 by brothers Onne & Simon Vegter, who share a deep love for South Africa's magnificent wildlife and natural heritage.
Regular Kruger Park Safaris
Wild Wings Safaris is a specialist safari operator with offices in the UK (London) and South Africa. In South Africa, we are ground operators with our own custom vehicles and guides and conduct regular scheduled safaris to the Kruger National Park, departing from Johannesburg, Nelspruit and Cape Town.
Our most popular tours include:
· a 3-day “Quickie Kruger” safari
· a 4-day “Budget Kruger” safari
· a 5-day “Best of Kruger” safari, and
· a 5-day “Kruger & Private Lodge Combo” safari.
Of course, we can also do custom tours and departures for groups of four and more.
Custom Safaris to top African Destinations
We also arrange individually-designed, once-in-a-lifetime safaris to all the top safari destinations throughout southern and East Africa, including the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sand Game Reserve, Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park, Okavango Delta, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, combining them to include popular travel regions like Cape Town, the Garden Route, Panorama Route, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Zanzibar.
Private Safari Arrangements
Wild Wings can also handle your booking and travel arrangements to many of the private game reserves and safari lodges throughout southern Africa. We’re not affiliated to any particular lodge or hotel group, but we have visited most of them ourselves and can give you honest, unbiased reviews and suggestions based on first-hand experience. We don’t charge any booking fees. When you book with us, you’ll pay the same or often slightly less than if you book directly with the lodge.
Fully-bonded offices in London and South Africa
Wild Wings Safaris operates as one brand, but our offices in the UK and South Africa are separate legal entities, beholden to the laws of the land. Our UK office is a member of ABTA (# Y6147) and has Financial Failure Insurance in place via The Travel Vault. Our SA office is a member of SATSA (# 1540). Whether you book with our London or South African office, you are fully covered. Both our offices have extensive public and passenger liability insurance in place, underwritten by Lloyd's of London.
Why is Wild Wings Safaris Different?
Wild Wings Safaris is a small company with a reputation for excellence and top-notch service. We love what we do, and we love doing it well! From your first enquiry until following up after your safari, we truly go out of our way to make sure that we exceed your expectations. Of course, many other companies may make this claim, but we invite you to check out our track record for yourself. We have won multiple awards on Tripadvisor and are enormously proud of our growing list of outstanding Tripadvisor reviews. We also feature on SafariBookings.com, an independent online safari marketplace; where we’re fortunate to be growing a list of great reviews, too.
We listen to what you want. Then we deliver.
We’ll design an itinerary that’s perfect for you, after listening carefully to your interests and needs. We understand what makes a safari special, and work hard to make sure that your safari is the trip of a lifetime. We do our best to ensure that all your questions are answered and that you’re properly informed and prepared before departure. We pay careful attention to detail so that each safari runs smoothly and seamlessly from start to finish.
All of our tour consultants are based in South Africa so they can regularly travel to the various lodges and destinations and stay in touch with local conditions. Our in-depth local knowledge is one of the key advantages of booking with us. You’ll find our consultants friendly and helpful; dedicated to helping you plan your trip of a lifetime. You’ll see that they are not pushy, but rather, will listen to you and perhaps ask a lot of questions to make sure that the proposal they put together matches your exact requirements. We pay them ‘top dollar’ so we keep the best in the business – and your glowing reviews make their jobs so worthwhile.
It’s amazing how much your safari enjoyment depends on the calibre of your guide. At Wild Wings Safaris we use mature, professional, English-speaking safari guides, expert and experienced. You’re welcome to read the glowing accolades they receive on comments page. And it’s pleasing to see how often they become life-long friends with our guests. Although we have little or no control of the guides you’ll be allocated when you’re visiting a private safari lodge, we have visited almost all the lodges we offer and have a good idea of their general guiding standards.
All our safaris are usually conducted in an open safari vehicle, specially designed for optimum game viewing. We offer complimentary bottled water, blankets and binoculars for each game drive. Transfers and tours are conducted in a luxury, air-conditioned minibus. All our vehicles are late model and low mileage, equipped with first-aid kit, all the necessary permits and licenses and substantial passenger liability insurance. Our vehicles are SABS compliant, serviced regularly and maintained in immaculate condition for your comfort and safety.
We are committed to being both socially and environmentally responsible in our tourism practices. We believe that the environmental sustainability of tourism is tied to social responsibility, and that educating local communities is one of the most important challenges in conservation. Poverty is a threat to conservation efforts and many wild areas in Africa are under threat from local communities who are desperate for food and land.
Education empowers people and opens the door to a better future; it’s the only long-term solution to unemployment and poverty, responsible for most social ills in society. This is why we launched the Wild Wings Educational Trust, a non-profit fund that supports local education projects and funds scholarships for disadvantaged children to receive a decent education. We promise to match every contribution from our clients toward the Trust, up to 2.5% of their trip costs. So if a guest voluntarily donates 2.5% of their overall trip cost to the Trust, Wild Wings Safaris will match it, making the total contribution 5%. All donations are completely voluntary. To find out how you can support this effort, please visit the Trust's website,www.wildwingstrust.org.
